My fellow APGA party men and women, my fellow Anambra citizens, I have come here today not to argue as a politician but to affirm a cause. Today we take the unusual step of carrying the cause and the commitment of our campaign personally to our people, Ndi Anambra in this vote-harvesting time, we are asking you all, we ask you, nwafo -Anambra to renew our commitment to the Party and to our state by voting right. Our cause has been, since the days of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the cause of the common man and the common woman. Our commitment has been, since the days of Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, to all the traders, the fishermen, the farmers, mechanics, and laborers. On this foundation we have defined our values, refined our policies and refreshed our faith as political party that was handed down by our heroes past. We are the party. We have always been the party of hope. Therefore, our people let us offer new hope, new hope to Nigerians uncertain about the present, but unsurpassed in its potential for the future. As we tour and campaign, we have found that faith of our people is still alive wherever we have traveled across this land; we speak out of a deep belief in the ideals of the APGA Party, and in the potential of that Party and of our leaders to make a difference.
Ndi APGA, though there were be setbacks and sacrifices in the years past, fortune lies ahead in wait for us; circumstances may change, but the work of compassion must continue. It is surely correct that we cannot solve problems by throwing money at them, but it is also correct that we dare not throw out our state’s problems onto a scrap heap of inattention and indifference, that is why we keep reminding everybody that running away to another party is to feel less concern about the situation of our state and her people. Running into PDP and seeking to lead or represent Ndi Anambra from such party is wrong because our governor is APGA, and it is only when the Senators and House of Reps members representing Anambra in Abuja are of APGA extraction that they can join force to fight the Anambra cause anywhere. If you doubt this, ask Senator Ngige how many times he had met with the past or present governors of Anambra state since he became a Senator, to find out what Anambra cause that requires his attention at Abuja; he’d rather go to Lagos to defend the deportation of Igbo people. Ask Senator Chris Ngige to tell us the reason why he offered employment to 8 Youruba persons out of 50 persons he published in his stewardship booklet shared at Abagana while on THANK YOU TOUR, he will tell you he gave some slots to his party and they offered the job to their kith and kin. Ask Senator Ngige why he was denied the seat of MINORITY leader when he got to the Senate, he will tell you that the party hierarchy wrote from Lagos and preferred the Benue man. Is it PDP wahala we shall talk about? Just look at the way the embarrassed the Igbo nation by their inability to agree on one Chairman to the extent that an Alhaji became the Anambra State PDP caretaker chairman; check how they humiliated Dr. Alex Ekwueme who is the founder of PDP; and you will know that APGA is the party to support and vote in here in Anambra state. Here in Anambra state, we know what we want. The commitment we seek is not to outworn views but to old values that will never wear out. So let us reject the counsel of retreat and the call to reaction by the opposition. Let us go forward in the knowledge that history only helps those who help themselves; we can only help ourselves by voting in APGA candidates in this election because at the end of our journey and tours, we shall all affirm that the ideal of “Onye Aghana Nwa nne ya” what will champion our state’s cause anywhere, and on behalf of Ndi Anambra we ask you to restate and reaffirm that timeless truth of our party. This is what the poor and the middle class demands of Ndi Anambra and Ndi Igbo. The poor may be out of political fashion, but they are not without human feel, sense and dreams; the middle class may be angry, but they have not lost the dream that all Anambra society can advance together when we vote in APGA Senators and House of Representative Members in this year’s election so that as brothers they will work together with our governor whom we have vote in through APGA. When that is done, we assure our people a state of exemplary fair prosperity and a just society are within our vision and our grasp as APGA ruled state, we are sure that together as one people, the people of Anambra can make a difference when APGA represents us in the Senate and House of Reps.
PDP do not have any answer to our people’s challenges in Anambra state and we do not want them again, even though we do not have every answer to all the people’s challenges because there are questions not yet asked, waiting for us in the recesses of the future, at least we have answers to the ones our people have asked us in the past: Roads, Light, Security, Orderliness, Morality, social development ………we have answered many. But PDP in Anambra state comprises arsonists, they have no answer other than.......... burn down our government house, close down schools and hospitals, introduce barbaric security outfit, kill people, tear gassed laity council men, loot us dry and impose hoodlums as leaders of Anambra state where people like Ojukwu and Zik of Africa hail from. No wonder Chinua Achebe rejected national honors because of PDP rascality in Anambra state. Ndi Anambra, Ndi APGA, do not ever dream of going back to Egypt, PDP is like going back to biblical Egypt because of the long trek to the promise land. We speak out of a deep trust in our capacity to proceed with boldness and a common vision that will feel and heal the suffering of our time and the divisions of our Party. We speak out of a deep sense of urgency about the anguish and anxiety we have seen across land, caused by no other people but some politicos, who always want to create confusion in the land whenever political permutation is not in their favour, do not mind the dissident politicians, and do not listen to those who are telling you otherwise. And may it be said of us, both in dark passages and in bright days, that like the Israelites that we shall never dreamt of returning to Egypt because a “Pharo” that does not know “Joseph” shall arise tomorrow and turn our people and state to a state of perpetual servitude.
In a few hours to go, this campaign will come to an end. And someday, long after these long speeches, talks and treks, long after the signs come down, and the crowds stop cheering, and the bands stop playing, may it be said of our campaign that we kept the faith. May it be said of our Party in 2015 that we found our faith again! For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die so long as we live the Ojukwu dreams and legacy, so long as we vote APGA and guard our votes jealously.
LONG LIVE ANAMBRA STATE OF NIGERIA.
PRO APGA FRONT.
